Welcome to the Kidsreach email Communiqué sent to you by David Goodwin and the team at Kidsreach.
This week's quote is an interesting one. I would love to hear your comments.
God Bless.

Object Lesson:
Sin: It's Not So Hot!
Pot or bucket of water
Garden tool such as a spade, shovel or axe
When you first stick your hand into the hot dishwater for the first time as a child, it seems SO HOT! You wonder how Mum and Dad can stand the temperature, so you ask them – and you hear them reply "It's not hot after you get used to it."
Or remember when you wanted to help Dad in the garden, and quickly wore a blister onto your hands? You ask Dad if his hands are burning too, and he shows you that he has thick calluses on his hands - "You get used to it, child, and soon you don't even notice it", he says to you.
Then later in life, you begin to slip up just a little bit - maybe a swear word here or there, a giggle at a dirty joke, or a bit of gossip - and the calluses begin to form on your walk with Christ. Then it's a movie on TV that you wouldn't DARE have watched one time, or you slip a few coins into your pocket from mum's purse - and the calluses get even thicker.
Before you know it, you don't even feel a thing when you sin. That is the effect that walking away from Christ will have on you.....the dirt and calluses begin to pile up on you, and as you get farther away, you notice it less and less.
But the good news is that God is calling His children to repentance. Look at what He told the Israelites: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14
God wants you back, repent of your sins, and those calluses will fall right off. Seek His face, humble yourself, pray and ask for His forgiveness, and He will hear your cries.

#33 HEART OF THE FATHER
‘The Heart of the Father' will help children develop a relationship with God based on the unconditional love that he has for them.
Children need to know the ‘Heart of the Father'. Many children are brought up in homes where they have not experienced the love of even an earthly father so they are not off base one with this. But all children, even if they do have a loving mother and father, need to experience God's love.

#13 BORN TO FLY
Eagles are said to be the most magnificent creatures on earth.
There are 33 references to eagles in the Bible. They are used to describe: Attributes of God; The Word of God and The People of God.
This subject looks at how the eagle shows us about God and our Christian walk.

#8 BEING FRIENDLY
Children often behave in ways that are not friendly. The extreme of this can lead to bullying. Just normal children's behaviour can shut less popular children out of activities and keep them from building friendships within a group. Often children do not return to church, and the reason is not that there is anything wrong with the program, but that they do not feel accepted by the other children. The opposite is also true, children will go where they have friends.
The aim of this program is to help you build the friendliest children's ministry in your town. A place where children feel accepted and loved, not just by the leaders but also by the children.

Joke : What Kids Say
Johnny had just been put to bed for the umpteenth time and his mother's patience was wearing thin. "If I hear you call 'Mother' one more time, you will be punished," she warned him sternly.
For a while it was quiet, and then she heard a small voice call from the top of the stairs, "Mrs. Jones? Can I have a drink of water?"
Susanna, age eight, was reprimanded by her mother for laughing while saying her bedtime prayers. "It's okay, Mom," she replied, "I was just sharing a joke with God."
Our parish priest was making a visit to the home of one of his parishioners. He knocked on the door, and the little 4-year-old boy went to the door and saw the priest.
He called to his dad, "Hey, Dad! That guy that works for God is here!"
Quotable Quote
In Why Christian Kids Rebel Trading Heartache For Hope. (2004) T. Kimmel writes primarily for parents but the book has a lot to say to the church. His challenge in the book is that in the Christian subculture we have chosen to raise our children in ways that might precondition them to spiritual apathy or antagonism. He says we need to be willing to slip fast the veneer of our Christian lifestyle and take a hard look at the heart of our faith. This may require us to question the status quo, but it might also pump some fresh air into our approach to raising our kids.
I would be interested to hear from you to tell me what you think about our quote this week which comes from page 6 of the book:
“Christian kids, who go through all the right motions, learn all the right truths, make all the right choices, and appear to be great candidates for becoming excellent Christian parents themselves. Yet they never seem inclined to make any spiritual difference in the world once they become adults. The fact is that rebellion isn't always outward and hostile. Sometimes an adolescent's rebellion reveals itself as a lack of passion, a lack of concern, a lack of motivation. These can be the symptoms of kids who have been raised in a spiritual greenhouse. They've heard the truth and accepted it. They've learned the principles and believed them. They've seen God work in many miraculous ways and enjoyed it. They just haven't invested these gifts from God into a life that shines for Him. They've put their trust in a God who would actually sacrifice His Son's life on their behalf, but for some reason His gift of love hasn't motivated them enough to be a living sacrifice for Him in return”.
