Celebrate Children 2010 Every Child Deserves a Safe and Happy Childhood |

Setting aside the year 2010 to highlight the sacred trust God has placed in us to look after and care for children. God expects us to provide for them an environment free from abuse, neglect and pain. God’s plan is for the older generation to teach in word and demonstration what it means to live an exciting life of following Jesus. |

About Celebrate the Children 2010 Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Psalm 127:3-4 NLT
Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing if all children were honoured as a gift from God?
Sadly, for many children this is not true.
But Jesus was never ashamed of children,
Never once did he ignore or belittle them or dishonour them
He always took particular notice of them and was delighted with them.
The Pharisees and priests and even the disciples, at times, dishonoured the children. Jesus honoured them.
I wonder what the children experienced as they sat on Jesus knee or stood around them as he touched them. I imagine they experienced utter joy and delight.
Children need to see their place in God’s heart and in the church. The ‘grown-up’ church need to be reminded that the children are not to be put in a holding bay until they get old enough or grown up but are part of the church of today.
Children need mentoring by grown- ups who can demonstrate the excitement of following Jesus.
We pray that in 2010, your children will come to know the joy and delight of being in God’s House, of being one of God’s children and being in God’s presence. |
